Astronomy vs. Astrology

This website uses real astronomical calculations to determine the position of the Ascendant (Rising Sign). The Swiss Ephemeris, the IANA Time Zone Database, and the geographic coordinate system are all based on verifiable science and mathematics.

However, the interpretive content — including descriptions of personality traits, characteristics, and meanings attributed to zodiac signs and Rising Signs — is based on Western astrological tradition. These interpretations are traditional, not scientifically proven.

What We Are Saying vs. What We Are Not

We are saying:

  • At the moment and place of your birth, a specific zodiac sign was on the eastern horizon. This is an astronomical fact that can be calculated.
  • In Western astrological tradition, this placement (the Rising Sign) is interpreted as having certain associations with personality and social style.
  • Many people find these interpretations meaningful, interesting, or useful for self-reflection.

We are NOT saying:

  • That the position of the stars or planets at birth scientifically determines personality, behavior, or life outcomes.
  • That astrological interpretations are equivalent to psychological assessment or diagnosis.
  • That our content should replace professional medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice.

Not Medical or Psychological Advice

Nothing on this website constitutes medical, psychological, psychiatric, or any other form of professional health advice. If you have concerns about your mental or physical health, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Accuracy of Calculations

The astronomical calculations performed by our Rising Sign calculator use the Swiss Ephemeris (Moshier algorithm), which is accurate to within fractions of an arc-second for modern dates. The accuracy of your specific result depends on the accuracy of the birth time and location you provide.

If your birth time is approximate, your Rising Sign result may be incorrect — especially if the Ascendant was near a sign boundary at the time of your birth.

Editorial Content

All editorial content on this website is written to be informative, honest, and clearly sourced. We use language like "traditionally associated with," "traditionally interpreted as," and "in astrological tradition" to signal when we are describing astrological interpretations rather than scientific claims.
